The keys to Steve Alford's success have come directly from his knowledge and insight as an All-American at Indiana and successful head coach. Benefits of motion offense are shot quality, low turnovers, learning how to play the game, distorting the defense and getting to the free throw line. You will learn how to build your motion offense from the ground level using 2-0, 2-1, 2-2, 3-3, 5-0 and 5-5 progressions. Alford focuses his instruction on cutting and screening, the two staples of motion effectiveness. The unique concepts of wheeling and re-screening add to the value of Alford's instruction. Alford shares five essential breakdown drills that provide a path for you to build your own cutting and screening motion game. Not only will your shot selection improve, but you will force opponents into fouls on a consistent basis. Easy baskets, open shots and free throw attempts will result by applying these motion drills.
71 minutes. 2009.
Produced at the Fall 2008 Fresno Clinic
This video matches the advertised description. Coach Alford's explanations are short and to the point. The drills match the concepts he is teaching. The player demonstrations are useful to the viewer. Alford does not have enough time to show all his tricks of the trade, but there's plenty of information here to jump start your motion offense. Once your players understand the spacing, screens and cuts shown, the game will seem easier for them to play naturally. You must coach passing and receiving angles.
DVD was ok. It covered very basic material on cutting and screening.
Good DVD. Sort of a combination of his 3-In 2-Out Motion Offense and his Moving Without the Ball DVDs.
