Bruce Pearl introduces Troy Wills as an integral part of the basketball success at the University of Tennessee. Coach Willis shares the superb agility, speed and power program used to give the Volunteers an edge; it provides all the training needed to play in Coach Pearl's signature full court, fast paced style! Coach Wills present a Range of motion depends on warm-up drills that are demonstrated by athletes. Wills focuses on the quads and hips when preparing athletes in the warm-up phase. In the weight room, the goal is power, strength and explosiveness. Vertical power is a big part of the game. The broad jump, single leg step-ups, push-jerk exercises are demonstrated and are key for developing vertical power. The lateral speed and agility portion of this program allows athletes to move quickly and efficiently. Hops, one leg hops and lateral shifts are executed with the use of ropes. Straight-line speed is a crucial skill for the fast paced style of play at Tennessee. Stride length and frequency are highlights of straight-line speed training. Core exercises develop many muscle groups and are strengthened with med ball throws. Wills takes players through a variety of med ball exercises that can be used by any coach!
