This defense allows you to confuse an opponent's offense while keeping your big players in the lane and small players out on the perimeter. Learn the rules of the defense and the teaching points necessary to teach your players how to successfully play this team defense.
This is an add-on to my last review. We implemented this last season for my HS girls basketball team and we were very successful with it, winning our league tournament against more talented teams. Just over 1/2 of the teams that played us had one of their three worst scoring games on the season. The players bought in immediately and unlike the Bill Green match up, which is very good, we didn't need to commit 20-30 minutes each practice on it. As with anything you modify it to fit your system, but the overall concepts are good. The only major thing I did differently was to follow all cutters through and get back when you can. The only area we got beat on this was on the G/F defensive exchange, one coach had her girls back door or slip and we got caught a few time. Teams got frustrated against us and we were able to get a lot of transition points, which is big for us, especially with limited scorers. I strongly recommend this video.
I like the overall presentation of the defense. However, he leaves out details such as defending ball screens.
Overall this was a good video; it looks easy to implement, and it does keep your 5 close to the net. I've coached HS for 12 years and middle school CYO for 6. This is something that could easily be implemented at either level
