Features & Benefits Improve your Basketball coaching!Learn the in's and out's of the innovative 3-2 "Point Zone Defense" !Take your team to the next level!Learn a defense that is easy to install and will break up a team's offensive rhythm against your team! with Paul Hewitt,Agua Caliente Clippers (NBA G League) Head Coach;George Mason University Head Coach from 2011 to 2015;2013 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) Runner-up;2011 Coaches vs. Cancer Champion Award;Georgia Tech Head Coach from 2000 to 2011;2004 NCAA Championship Runner-Up;2001 ACC Coach of the Year;Siena Head Coach from 1997 to 2000;2000 MAAC Coach of the Year;2x MAAC Regular Season Champions;1999 MAAC Tournament ChampionsIn this instructional video, Coach Hewitt introduces you to his innovative 3-2 "Point Zone Defense" - the same zone defense Hewitt used to shut down offenses in the Yellow Jackets 2004 run to the national title game! Hewitt begins by giving each defensive player an assignment and demonstrates the defensive responsibilities that allow the zone to run effectively. It starts out as a 2-3 "look" by placing the 1 and 3 on the left side because most players are right handed and that is the side of the court a majority of shots come from. The 2 and 4 are placed on the right because of their size and offensive rebounding ability. The 5 is always between the ball and the basket. This defense is built around the "point"/"hole" philosophy, which means that there is always a defender on the ball (point) and one defending the basket (hole). The off-the-ball defenders are all responsible for an offensive player, this is why it is a great rebounding zone defense. Hewitt also demonstrates how to guard different situations such as: ball in high post, dribble rotation, cuts, on and off ball screens, and penetration. The "Point Zone Defense," is perfect for any team because it is easy to install, has basic and simple principles, allows for a defender to be in the face of the offensive player at all times, assigns box out responsibilities to each player, prevents easy baskets from baseline out-of-bounds situations and will break up a team's offensive rhythm! 77 minutes. 2005. Ratings & Reviews Paul Hewitt: The 3-2 "Point Zone Defense" on February 5, 2022 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by Anonymous Spiegato molto bene, non é una 3-2 vera, ma lo diventa solo con il 5 che esce in punta. Clinic molto ben fatto Was this review helpful? Yes No Paul Hewitt: The 3-2 "Point Zone Defense" on February 8, 2017 Currently 4/5 Stars.4/5 Stars 4 by JohnBostrom881 This is an interesting zone, and at times acts as a sort of rotating zone depending on how the point decides to play. As i watched i thought of it as almost a pack line zone, with the on ball defender up playing man to man, with the rest of the defense back adjusting to the offense. The defense is conceptually fine, however the presentation lacks and especially gets bad with Coach Hewitt constantly interrupting the team trying to learn this defense. The start and stop gets annoying and drags down the presentation. His attempts at humor didn't work for me either. There are no breakdown drills given which drops it a point. He does give a couple of different scenarios (ball screens, cutters, skip passes, etc.) which are OK as far as they go. I think if you're going to implement this at the HS level you'll have to put some work into figuring out special situations yourself (as well as some breakdown drills), as the DVD doesn't address every possibility. As another reviewer mentioned there are better 3-2 zone DVDs out there. 4 of 4 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? I installed it for our team. It not only became our bread and butter but I found that my players more often than not were in the right place at the right time and never out of position. It takes work to teach anything. But what I found was the time that I put in to learning it, and teaching it, my players responded with the same heart and passion to learn. I had several players that became like coaches on the floor and would often help others get into position. I absolutely loved Paul Hewitt's skill set to break it down in such a way that made it easy for me to learn. As a coach I believe we have to love the teaching aspect and then things fall into place. 4 of 4 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? Yes No Paul Hewitt: The 3-2 "Point Zone Defense" on July 17, 2015 Currently 1/5 Stars.1/5 Stars 1 by Anonymous Didn't get much from this one. Players on the floor often seemed confused about their responsibilities as was I. I'm not a highly experienced coach so I could be mistaken but all I saw was players in a 2-3 zone alignment or a 1-3-1 alignment. If you are looking for info on the 3-2 zone I would recommend Tim Jankovich's DVD.Championship Productions replies:Coach, Please check our return policy for details on how you can receive a refund or exchange this item for something that better meets your needs.
