Patrick Chambers: Building a 4-Out 1-In Motion Offense

Patrick Chambers' 4-Out 1-In Motion Offense is designed for teams that can attack the hoop off the dribble and teams that don't have the personnel to "play big." In this clinic setting, Coach Chambers covers the spacing, actions and cuts that open driving lanes and create scoring opportunities.

Watch as Chambers builds his 4-Out 1-In Motion Offense one position at a time: 4-on-0, 5-on-0 with a post player, driving baseline, driving middle, and driving from the slot area.

In this offense, your players never stand around, but always challenge the defense with cuts.

Coach Chambers outlines and demonstrates how the players should make their cuts with and without the ball. During each stage, he emphasizes good spacing to create driving opportunities for guards and to create space for post players to work down low.

Post and Rip
With every motion offense action, there must be a good rip action to the basket. The "Post and Rip" is the foundation of this 4-Out 1-In Offense, as it puts your players in position to utilize their strengths. The rip action creates a rebounding triangle and puts two players in position for a 3-point opportunity off a kick out pass. Chambers demonstrates how to incorporate this rip action from anywhere on the floor. With each rip action, he demonstrates how each player should fill accordingly on the court. You will also see four options to release pressure, if needed.

Drive and Space
Put pressure on the help defense with drives to the hoop that create scoring opportunities for all five players. The spacing action from the baseline, middle and the slot open up the floor and keep the spacing and offensive flow going.
