Kruger presents offensive and defensive building concepts through drills. Planning a positive practice environment is the responsibility of the coach. The focus of drills is important and must be simple and have an objective. Kruger takes players through a series of shooting drills to start the workout. Follow-The-Leader is a good drill for offensive skill development and repetition. Group 3-Man Weave, 5-Man Weave and 5 trips full court drills are demonstrated. Defensive transition is an everyday focus for Kruger. Close outs are taught with the Quadrants Drill as players are split into four groups around the floor. The Seven Slide Drill is a versatile, all-purpose defensive drill. Putting everything together in the Shell Drill gives many areas of defensive execution to be exposed. Finally, the 3-on-3 "guard" drill is used for game preparation purposes to prepare for hand offs and on ball screens. With each of the drills shared, coaches can incorporate elements of them to strengthen their game plan for success.
