Features & Benefits
with Franklin Martin,
Pro Development Camp (Founder) and Coach

The Pro Development Camp was established in 1996 by Coach Martin and NBA Hall of Fame Center Bill Walton. In 2005 Martin brought his program to the West Coast. Based in Los Angeles, he now trains NBA and collegiate players at UCLA. This DVD on Post Paddle Play illustrates his ability to transform players quickly and turn their "dreams into reality." Fundamental shooting drills are a big part of this training program. Martin uses a pro player to demonstrate form shooting with one hand from several spots on the floor. A stance that is open to the ball is important in Martin's teaching. A lot of the teaching in this DVD deals with the transition from low to high post. The high post jump shot, straight drive, drop step in opposite direction and rip through help players play facing the basket. Working against the paddle helps players score against shot pressure and contact at the rim. This workout makes good use of cones simulating defenders. The cone in front of the goal creates the pull-up floater, straight drive, or dunk. Footwork is a crucial element for post self-improvement. Combinations are drop/jump shot, rip/jump shot, step back jumper and baby hook to right and left sides. A series of drills from the point guard position help post players develop ball skills needed to face the basket. The crossover and inside/out dribble are used on the perimeter, as Martin uses the paddle to simulate the opponent. Pull up shots, running shots and floaters are taught as options also. Players are taught to drive from the wing and finish with running hooks, pull up jumpers or step backs. A series of low post drills help players improve near the basket. The squat and spin, drop step and lock and sit techniques are taught. "Finishing School" is a series of drills that improve player's ability to score at the rim. This multi-faceted DVD covers post play self-development from all angles. By using the paddle, you can help your players gain strength, confidence and skills!
