The scoreboard is Coach Dixon's best friend on the practice floor. Winners and losers are determined in practice--as they are in games--with an array of competitive drills. Dixon believes that every drill must simulate the game setting and challenges the tougher team to win. By scoring each drill, Dixon's team enhances its communication, work ethic and aggressive play. The 3-on-2 continuous and the four minute drill are game simulated, full court drills that mix conditioning with skill development. Every shot counts in the three man and five man shooting drills. Dixon's defensive shell drill adds a creative dimension with its scoring system, rewarding defensive execution. Aggressiveness and toughness result from the 2-on-2 rebounding drill in the paint. All of Dixon's drills foster toughness and help develop a competitive team mentality, while improving on an array of individual and team skills.
