He focuses on the details that make this offense work including the permanent pivot foot, how and where to set the ball screen, and the screen and roll versus screen and go.Emphasis is placed on reading the defense as the ball handler comes off of the screen and Showalter teaches the reads that must be made against teams that: Go behind the screen Hedge on the screen Double the screen Switch the screen Show early on the screenShowalter also provides a number of variations designed to take advantage of tendencies established by the offense as the game progresses. Ratings & Reviews Don Showalter: Continuity Ball Screen Offense on July 7, 2020 Currently 4/5 Stars.4/5 Stars 4 by ShannonPierce552 Good video. Coach Showalter does a great job explaining the offense. The offense is pretty simple and is easy to teach. He also shows a couple of different options out of the offense and also what to do against a zone. Was this review helpful? I don't like having one guy stand at or near half court. I'm not interested in playing 4 against 5 on offense. Yes No Don Showalter: Continuity Ball Screen Offense on March 15, 2016 Currently 4/5 Stars.4/5 Stars 4 by Anonymous I'm giving it a 4 but one question. What happens when the defense doesn't go with the reversal man and plays off that man in order to clog things up? Would that not simply kill the penetration and essentially have the defense playing 5 vs. 4? Was this review helpful? Yes No Don Showalter: Continuity Ball Screen Offense on March 2, 2016 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by Anonymous Watching Don's video it feels like you are at one of his clinics. I told a friend that I felt like Don was mentoring me. I'm an 8th grade boys park district coach, may not coach again because my son is going to HS but I would HIGHLY recommend any of Don's videos. (I have 2)He has a no-nonsense common sense approach that a veteran coach would appreciate or someone like me, a novice coach. I also exchanged emails with Don a couple times and was VERY impressed he would take the time to answer a few of my questions and offer encouragement. We ran his offense with a mix of skilled and moderately skilled players all season and it worked well for us. Thanks to Championship Productions but to Don Showalter in particular. 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? Not a bad DVD, was just looking for more out of this than was delivered. Was this review helpful? Yes No Don Showalter: Continuity Ball Screen Offense on September 26, 2012 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by UtahUtes I really liked this video! Coach Showalter does a nice job in discussing how he came to run this kind of offense. He is a good teacher and the on-floor instruction is solid. I put this offense in with my 7th and 8th grade boys teams last spring and then used it during the summer in various tournaments. It was easy to implement. The angle of the ball screen makes this offense work...Coach Showalter spends quite a bit of time discussing where to get the wing catch and then how to set the ball screen most effectively. To be honest, the basic "20" offense was a little crowded for us...it might be because of the age of my players; however, we ran the "Switch" option all summer and got open looks any time we ran it. I also like the isolation plays "Pop Down" and "Pop Up". You can really take advantage of a mismatch in the post quickly or get an empty side of the floor to work with. We run a dribble drive offense...this continuity ball-screen offense is a nice addition to our offensive playbook. Our players understand how to turn the corner and attack the basket in the dribble drive which is the perfect skill complement to Coach Showalter's offense. One of the reasons I like 1-4 High sets is because of the distortion to the defense. It's really tough for some of the bigger or slower post defenders to keep up with constant ball screen responsibilities on the perimeter. We get slips off the ball screen as much as we get shots from our guards at the "kill spot" (elbow). Coach Showalter also addresses a few special situations such as how to create spacing and get a post up when ball pressure on the perimeter is really tight. We also used this ball screen offense vs. zones with some success. Again, the distortion of the offense vs. a zone defense is what makes it work. If you're looking for an easy ball screen continuity offense, this will work for any age level. 9 of 9 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? Yes No Don Showalter: Continuity Ball Screen Offense on May 9, 2012 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by Espo82 Coach Showalter does an outstanding job explaining the continuity pick and roll offense. I can honestly say I will install it next year on my varsity girls team. The best thing about it is its simplicity. Showalter breaks down each read on the pick and "go" which should be taught be every coach who has a pick and roll in their offense. This offense is very hard to defend if run properly. Also it is so simple you can still run flex, motion, shuffle...I can you tell I would not want opposing coaches running this offense against my teams. Absolute nightmare to defend! Coach Showalter also breaks down how this offense will be effective against zones. 5 of 5 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? It is a very simple offense with some nice set plays out of it. Coach Showalter does a great job speaking about the offense. Watching him speak at the Pittsburgh clinic last year is part of the reason why I chose this video. 3 of 3 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? It seems simple and seems to rely on the decision-making of the players, giving them some ownership in it's execution. I also enjoyed his teaching points. Worth the money, thanks. 3 of 3 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? Yes No Don Showalter: Continuity Ball Screen Offense on February 8, 2012 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by rbarker This is a great dvd with a motion offense that is simple to run and understand. Coach Showalter does well in explaining the offense and some counters within the offense. He also shows how it can be used against man or zone. I would have liked about 5 minutes of live action against a zone. He also gives some great tips on his coaching philosphy. Things that will get you thinking. 6 of 6 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? Yes No Don Showalter: Continuity Ball Screen Offense on January 13, 2012 Currently 3/5 Stars.3/5 Stars 3 by Anonymous Why would the preview clip be nothing that has to do with continuity ball screening offense? Makes me me worry that I am not going to view a continuity offensive video. Instead I'm going to get a clinic lecture with 5 min of continuity offense and a bunch of set plays. has anyone views this video? I've wasted too much money on ineffective videos. thanksChampionship Productions replies:Coaches, To clarify: The first 15 minutes of this video is philosophy and why Coach Showalter runs the "20 Offense." The rest of the video is a tutorial of how to run the "20 Offense" and a collection of plays to run out off of his offense. Basically the "20 Offense" is a pick and roll motion style that can be run over and over again until a player gets an open look. But Showalter also shows a collection of set plays that can be run out of the 20 if your opponent is taking away an aspect of the offense. Hope that helps!
