Dave Leitao: '32' Motion Offense and Cuts

Dave Leitao: '32' Motion Offense and Cuts

with Dave Leitao,
former University of Virginia Head Coach

Coach Leitao is one of American basketball's fastest "rising stars", and his 32 Offense is a creative approach to halfcourt basketball. His "32" offense is a 3-out, 2-in set. In the 32, there are five cuts: Away, Corner, Chase, Swing and Shuffle. Away is a point guard dribble out, running the wing through the lane to the weak side. This look results in a strong post up by a wing and contains many different scoring options. The corner cut is initiated by a wing entry and a cut by the point guard to the corner. A triangle is set up on the strong side and several options are again presented. Next option is the Swing, which starts with a UCLA screen then an on ball screen. On the weak side a double stack develops. The wing drives over the screen as the points guard cuts off a double screen. The motion of the 32 offense never stops, it just flows from one option to the next. The Shuffle cut initiates a flex cut along the baseline and creates more scoring opportunities. Dozens of movements, post ups, screen and scoring options are presented within this compact offensive package. By putting players in specific spots with the offense, you can maximize our talent and opportunities.

2006.

This wasn't an offense, it was some set plays that could be helpful. I was expecting a motion offense.

I thought the offense was good BUT the players they used where very bad and made offense look poor or average. They forget what to do and have no energy. I really wish they would of played harder... to get an idea of how it works.
