Coach Bob Hurley's Favorite Drills By America's Greatest Coaches - Volume II
on April 23, 2011
For its purposes, this is one of the best coaching resources available. I own 25 coaching DVDs, and have watched and taken notes on another 20-30. This, along with vol 1, is just outstanding.

Covering individual skill improvement and team play, these drills are presented with coaches in mind. Besides having a Hall of Fame coach showing how things are supposed to be done -- which is valuable in and of itself -- the film is expertly organized. Each drill is introduced with a brief highlights reel, followed by Coach Hurley's explanation, and then the drill itself, in which Hurley and his assistants give feedback to the players. Occasionally when Hurley wants to correct something, there will be a replay, with the addressed player digitally spotlighted, so you know who he is talking about. At the end of each drill is a brief list of teaching points to focus on.
In something I haven't seen in coaching videos before, Hurley offers a sort of "director's commentary", in which he discusses the drills in a voice-over. He explains the purpose, when the drill is used, how often and long they use it for, and discusses the teaching points in detail.
Incredibly, this video is cheaper than the usual film-a-clinic boilerplate that seems to be the norm for coaching vids. I heard somewhere that proceeds go to Hurley's school, St. Anthony's, so it goes to a good cause, too!
