Bob Knight: Advanced Tactics & Techniques for Man-to-Man Defense

Nothing special or advanced in this video. Covers some basics of his defense and some drills every coach already does.

Bob Knight has a long history of being one of basketball's greatest teachers, but this video is a bit of a painful mixed bag. Coach Knight had a series of five clinic videos while he was at Indiana, and the second of these - on Defense, obviously - makes up the second DVD. Also, included are volumes one and two of his basketball books written with Pete Newell. The older materials are much better than the newer, particularly in not having a totally mismatched electric guitar playing as an introduction to the different segments, and sometimes interfering with hearing what Coach Knight is saying. A repackaging of the older materials would have been a better idea, but I would recommend this current series as the best next option. It's fortunate that Coach Knight's instruction is still available. He still has one of the clearest, most intelligent and applicable voices in the game.

In my opinion Bob Knight is one of the greatest teachers the game haw ever seen. No matter what kind of defense you are running there is no doubt that 2-DVD set will help you tremendously in incorporating good defensive habits into your team.If you wanna learn how you can play good containment defense then this is the right choice for you. This DVD set consists of three parts.The first one where the General in a basketball clinic presents the basic aspects of his philosophy in defense. The second one where you get to see the parts of his philosophy in defense and the third part where you get to see the teaching in practice from a mid 90's practice in Indiana.

This is an exceptional DVD from Bob Knight, whose knowledge of basketball is second to none. I also appreciate Championship Productions handling of my order. Their customer service team went above and beyond to ensure that my DVD was of the highest quality, even going as far as correcting any glitches and send me a new DVD. Excellent DVD.....very clear. Coach Knight does a great job explaining positioning and the purpose of positioning. I've been coaching man to man for over 30 years and got ideas and phrases and different ways of approaching situations that are important to winning games.
