Billy Donovan: The Unstoppable Transition Game

Good DVD on teaching secondary break. I particularly found the first part with the fast break drills more interesting rather than the second part with the secondary break. Not that is bad - on the contrary- but if i have to compare it with other DVD's i have bought from Championship productions i'd say that it is a little bit weaker in this section from that perspective. On the other hand the drills will surely compensate you and if you do not have any great knowledge of the secondary break then the information here will surely help you.

A superb DVD on transition basketball. Coach Donovan introduces several drills that coaches of all levels can implement into their program to immediately improve any basketball team. Coach emphasizes the skills in each drill that made his teams at Florida one of the most dangerous teams year in and year out offensively. If you are looking to play faster and need drills you can do with your team every day, look no further than this DVD!

This DVD uses players in a clinic format where a team comes in to demonstrate for an entire lineup of coaches and their various presentations. While I realize that this is a very common way for basketball coaching DVD's to be produced, sometimes this poses a problem for me. In this particular DVD, Coach Donovan has to spend significant time and energy into trying to get the clinic players on the same page as him. I feel it detracts from my ability to learn the drills and concepts that Coach Donovan is teaching. I know that this is sometimes part of the coaching DVD game, but I feel it's more pronounced on this DVD than most others that I've seen.

Great DVD on offensive transition. Coach Donovan is an excellent teacher of the fundamentals needed to play a full court game. His simple drills are very effective and easy to implement. His philosophy of a fast offensive tempo is exciting and it's easy to see why he's been so successful.

This is the second DVD by Coach Donovan that I have purchased. He is a master instructor who is clear and concise with the information he provides. This year, I am going to implement all the drills and concepts he presented. They apply to any team that is running transition, even if they don't run the Florida half-court offense. The drills provide a practical way to get/stay in shape and the concepts could become an offense all by themselves or easily flow into your own half-court offense.
