Customer Review:
At first I was just relieved to see something so simple and effective. But then, when I began to see players actually go to these moves in games after having drilled them....I became a life long believer....I have roughly 50 bball DVD's...this is the best PD in a nutshell offering I've ever seen.

with Archie Miller, University of Dayton Head Coach,
2014 Elite Eight, 2015 Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year Award,
former University of Arizona Associate Head Coach,
USA Basketball's U19 World Championship staff winning a gold medal in 2015 FIBA World Championships)

Up and coming University of Dayton head coach Archie Miller brings you an in-depth look at how to develop your players in the off-season - while working on their conditioning. Coach Miller details the strategies and drills they use to train the Flyers during the off-season.

Coach Miller uses on court demonstrators, along with his coaching staff, to outline an array of drills you can implement right into your off-season development plan. Coach describes his off-season plan and how to prepare your entire program for off-season development by having many drills to choose from so your players are pushed to their best every session.

You will learn warm-up, ball handling, and shooting drills along with several competitive drills that simulate game situations. Every drill, whether it is a warm-up, skill work, or spot shooting, mimics game speed. The drills he uses focus on teaching the following moves from any position on the court:

  • Power layup
  • Reverse hook
  • Pull up jump shot
  • Step through
  • Reach out layup
  • Perimeter-to-post

Coach Miller's shooting series is not your conventional spot shooting drill. Instead, using the clock as a gauge for effort and simulating game speed, it is a tough workout in and of itself:

  • Spot Shooting Series 1-2 Step
  • Spot Shooting Series on the Move
  • 3 Men, 2 Balls Drill (2's, 3's, pull-up jump shots, half-court speed pull-up jumpers, line shooting)

Coach Miller teaches you how to effectively chart your player's progress to provide evidence of their growth during the off-season. By charting your player's progress, you will build their confidence for the upcoming season, along with the drive for continuous development in the off-season. Your players will continue to buy into your program goals by seeing their progress.

Coach Miller provides coaches at any level with challenging player development drills and effective ways to track their progress.

5-Star Rating here. I have purchased roughly over 100 Championship DVDs that cover team offensive and defensive systems and skill development series. This DVD by Archie Miller is one of my favorites!

Within this DVD you have tons of Off-Season drills to work on that develop players skills in terms of shooting and finishing moves. For example, Circle Shooting Drill. In this drill you are working on several shots, layups (right and left hand), one foot finishing moves on both sides of the floor, pull up jumpers, step through moves, and ball handling drills with finishing moves. Great stuff and many of these drills I used with our summer program. 5-Star Rating.

Highly Recommends if you are training post player or guards. Coach Miller does a good job of explaining each drill and his rationale for using the drills and finishes.

There is a lot of great stuff in this one, the drills and details are very good but the way they are executed really fired me up! I love the concepts that Coach Miller incorporates with this program, they find ways to measure progress and make it all about getting better and showing the players they are getting better. The drills themselves are solid for the most part, some are fairly simplistic in nature but there are variations and add ons that make them worth while. I love how they practice shooting, that is for sure something that we will try and incorporate this next season in our skill development workouts. Very good one to look at for team and small group skill work!

This is a really solid video detailing Daytons off season workout plan with their players. I really liked the overall philosophy of how it is structured and I absolutely loved the way they do shooting. Its similar to the way we already do it but with some wrinkles that we can certainly add! I wish there was more to the dribbling and footwork as the shooting and finishing too me is so well done that those areas seem lacking. Still a perfect score for me, very good video to get inspiration from with how to structure your team workouts. All of the drills shown are also very difficult physically so you can get a lot of conditioning in as well.

I am a high school varsity boys coach. This video really gave me something very practical and succinct to work on with players in the offseason...I even believe I will use a segment per day from this work out in season for PD as well as pre-game warm up. At first I was just relieved to see something so simple and effective. But then, when I began to see players actually go to these moves in games after having drilled them....I became a life long believer....I have roughly 50 bball DVD's...this is the best PD in a nutshell offering I've ever seen.

Excellent skill development video. Particularly impressed with quality of drills that can be used at any age level. Coach Miller shows how to document progress, as well as clearly explaining each drill.
