Sherri Coale guided the Sooners to their second straight national semi-finals appearance in 2010. The foundation of her success is based on skill development and communication. In this all access DVD presentation, Coach Coale gives you a court-side seat to the first five practices of the 2010-11 season. Using the whole-part-whole method of teaching, you will see Coale and her staff giving the players the repetitions to effectively execute her offensive and defensive system.
Pre-Practice and Film SessionWatch Coale interact with her team as they go through three film sessions breaking down the good and the bad from the previous practice. After the film sessions, Coale takes her players through drills to improve fundamentals and serve as a warm-up for practice.
Offensive SystemCoale's teams are legendary for their half-court motion offense. You will see the fundamental drills she uses to build the motion offense. These drills include motion shots (2-on-0, 3-on-0, 4-on-0) with specific action that includes penetrate and pitch, slips and cutting & spacing; 3-on-3 screening that includes pins, flare screens and back screens; 2-on-2 ball screens; and offensive rebounding. She also incorporates several multi-faceted shooting drills into her practices that simulate game-like shots.
Defensive SystemCoale's teams play a tough, fundamentally sound man-to-man defense. In these practices, you get to see the drills used to teach individual and team man-to-man defense skills. They cover their transition defense rules and responsibilities, 1-on-0 and 1-on-1 closeouts, and build to 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 shell, as well as the Cameron Drill which is a multi-part drill incorporating closeouts and jumping to the ball.
Rebounding and TransitionA staple in Coale's practice routine are rebounding and transition offense fundamentals. Learn the techniques the Sooners use so effectively gain position under the rim to control any offensive or defensive rebound. The transition drills get the players to focus on pushing the ball up the floor every time. In addition, She also shows three of her early offense actions off the dribble-Deep, Drag, and Up.
Oklahoma Coaches ClinicAs an added bonus, you will see the 2010 Oklahoma Coaches Clinic. This clinic session features Oklahoma Strength and Conditioning Coach Tim Overman sharing activation drills to improve posture and stretching as well as his thoughts concerning ACL injuries and improving a players jumping ability.
Assistant Coach Jan Ross shares some of the post and guard drills they use in their fall and spring individual workouts. For post players, she shares teaching points and drills that include toss back outlets, one hand catches, power slams, fast finishes, back-ups, diagonals to bury, and offensive rebounding techniques. For the guards, she shows a 7-spot shooting drill, pick-ups, rip through series using a toss back, 2-ball pass and shoot, and a 3-cone touch drill.
Coach Coale shares lead up drills for teaching the primary break and two defensive drills. She finishes by taking your through their sideline in-bounds play, which can be used versus a man or a zone defense. Using this set, the players have a variety of actions and options to run based on how they read the defense.
This is an exhaustive library of basketball instruction!
744 minutes (6 DVDs). 2011.
It was superb. If you are interested in watching some teaching and intensity, this is the one you want. I have bought three of the all-access (Geno A; Mike K) but this is one is the best. The film session portion is tremendous. You will not regret purchasing this set.
Have been thru all 6 disks a couple of times now.I enjoyed all dvd's. Still giving it a 4 because it concentrates on the guards and wings and just don't see enough of what the bigs are doing. I would tell anyone that for the money this set is 100% worth it. I will be buying her AAU series by the end of the month because I enjoyed this one so much. Have used some drills in my practice and the girls love them. I really enjoy how she keeps the team up with cheering and clapping and she encourages it when the drill is going.
Best DVD Ever! So many great things use. Great explanations for each drill as well as a purpose. This DVD will not disappoint you at all, and a great value for the price as well. Coach Coale does a great job!!
OUTSTANDING!!! COALE HOLDS NOTHING BACK, SHE'S A GREAT CUMMUNICATER AND THERE'S TONS OF DIFFERENT DRILLS AND PLENTY OF KNOWLEDGE SHARED.
This was my December buy. I have only watched the first 3 and currently on the 4 dvd. I really like what is being taught and the drills. The only thing I can say is when they seperate the guards and forwards I don't see much of the forwards drills. You see it on the screen but hard to follow because focus is on guards. This is why I have given it 4. Will write anothe review after I'm done all 6. Extremely happy with buy and will purchase her AAU series next because of her quality of coaching
The best All-Access DVD I have bought. Coale not only shows the drill but goes into why she does the drill. Excellent Excellent Excellent. I wish others would follow her lead.
Wow, probably one of the best All Access video offered. Really easy to follow. Lots of great stuff on video. Highly recommended.
Great videos best all access I ever brought
If you ever wanted to know how a basketball practice should run, look no further. Coach Coale does an awesome job of teaching her players and you the viewer. She not only explains the how but also the why behind the drills she runs. This is one of the very best dvd's I've purchased.
I could not wait to purchase this dvd set. Coach Coale is an excellent coach and this DVD is yet another example of how great a coach she has become. The film portion was excellent. This was a great add-on for the all-access dvds. I like the wealth of drills, how the practice is structured, how great of a teacher Coach Coale is, how she teaches the players after a mistake, and how great of a motivator she has become. This is a great DVD to add to your coaching collection.
Another excellent All Access production - Coach Coale does a great job of teaching and motivating. I really like the addition of film room scenes and Coach Coale's comments summarizing her practice at the end of each session - really good.
Two complaints though:
1) At times, the drills are filmed from bad angles - often can't see how the drill is setup
2) I know her motion offense may be perimeter oriented but the post is still a pretty important part of the offense and very little attention is paid to the post drills - can see them occasionally but I think it would have been helpful to spend a little more time showing the post drills - they are good but they get very little camera time.
Was waiting for this purchase & did not disappoint - Really enjoyed this DVD.
Well put together & includes a copy of practice plan as Bonus feature. Also enjoyed the "Film Session" portions of reviewing practice and the overview before each DVD by Coach Coale.
