Individual player workouts, team practices, strength and conditioning sessions, and practice planning meetings are all provided in this 2-video set that lets both viewers and fans inside the Gottfried's NC State basketball program.Video 1:Coach Gottfried takes you through a quick practice session, on the court and in the weight room, that keeps his players engaged and working with a purpose from the moment they start practice. Practice starts with game speed shooting, a great shooting routine that will help your players learn how to use the proper footwork and form to develop a great jump shot. The routine includes a variety of moves (jab step, one bounce, pump fake and go, and rip and go) that will help your players get past their defender and hit the open jumper. To sharpen defensive communication and positioning skills, Gottfried runs his players through a half-court 4-on-4 shell drill that fine tunes the Wolfpack defensive principles. Included in the 4-on-4 shell drill are a variety of ways to defend ball screens, down screens, and how to build a steel wall around the paint to prevent dribble penetration coming off of screens.Gottfried shows you how he teaches his offensive system by going 5-on-0 man offense. His players run through every option within their set plays and continuity offense. He builds their basketball IQ by adding a defense and playing 5-on-5 full court to familiarize them with defending different screening actions and learning where to look for the open man on offense. Assistant Strength Coach Craig Sowers takes the players through a weight room workout, demonstrating lifts that work the core and that help build upper body strength to fight under the boards for rebounds. He uses various dumbbell exercises, bar exercises, and plates training to make sure the athletes are in the best possible shape. Each circuit will provide in-depth knowledge of the lift, what area it works, and why they perform the lift. Video 2:Gottfried opens up his coach's meeting to show you how they prepare for each practice session. Sit in as the coaches discuss what they want to work on, why they want to work on that area, how to get the most out of their practice time, and how to evaluate their practice in the end. Gottfried does a great job outlining the direction of practice and how he wants to reach his goals. The Wolfpack Coaching staff breaks out into pre-practice individual workout sessions with both guards and post players to improve the position skill training within their offensive system. In guard play, you will learn a dynamic shooting routine that is done with "The Gun" that will maximize your players' time and The Gun's shooting and rebounding capabilities in order to effectively push your players during a workout.Team practice resumes with Coach Gottfried showing how they implement their press attack in order to make the defense pay for pressing them full court. You will learn about the 2-3 zone, its responsibilities and how to implement in practice with a short amount of time. Gottfried outlines several of their side out of bounds plays and how they transition right into their motion offense. He finishes his All Access practice sessions with various 5-on-0 movements within their motion offense and a great 5-on-5 segment where his team practices against zone and man-to-man defenses in order to prepare them for any situation they will face in the upcoming trip to Spain.Witness the inner-workings of the coach who has reinvigorated Wolfpack Nation in just one season on the job. You will witness the precision and approach to player development that has led to the Wolfpack's recent resurgence.197 minutes (2 videos). 2013.All Access videos are designed to allow viewers from all over the world to see how successful coaches run their practices in a "live" practice setting. Ratings & Reviews All Access NC State Basketball Practice with Mark Gottfried on July 26, 2019 Currently 3/5 Stars.3/5 Stars 3 by Anonymous This video was either shot at the beginning or the end of his career at NCS. His players seem unenthusiastic frequently at practice. He consistently asks his players to go game speed but really don't increase their effort. There are some basic drills that he uses at the beginning of practice. I guess it's also nice to see how different coaches work on fundamentals at different parts of the practice. Coach does a bunch of scrimmaging which doesn't look very inspired. In his defense, this is a spring or early summer practice as his team was getting ready to go overseas and play. He runs a complex, but effective, 1-4 high multi-optional offense. He doesn't spend a lot of time going through it, but if you follow it closely and pause and rewind, you can get a pretty good offensive set. It's also nice to see what the pre-practice meetings are like that the coaching staff goes through. All in all, it's an average college practice with average activity. Was this review helpful?
