Description

with Tom Izzo,
Michigan State University Head Coach;
3x National Coach of the Year,
2000 NCAATournament Champions

This is your opportunity to sit in on three Michigan State men's basketball practices! Watch from the sidelines as 3x National Coach of the Year Tom Izzo runs his athletes through warm ups, offense, defense, rebounding and more in preparation for the 2010-11 season.

In addition, you will experience a pre-practice meeting with Izzo and his staff as they break down practice footage and discuss the adjustments they need to make in their next practice.

Warm-Up Drills:
Each practice begins with individual improvement drills consisting of ball handling, full court passing drills to reduce turnovers, rebounding drills to train bigs to "attack the rim" and shooting drills. After the warm up period, Izzo runs the Daily Dozen drill focusing on hard attacking lay ups and attacking the basket. Throughout each practice, Izzo demonstrates ways to get a large number of shooting reps at game speed.

Transition Offense:
Izzo shares his philosophy for transition offense as he teaches his 3- and 5-man break drill. Izzo emphasizes staying wide on the court, attacking the middle of the floor with the dribble, taking advantage of post touches, screening away on the opposite wing, spacing and flowing into the flex continunity series.

Rebounding:
Use Izzo's 2 man rebounding, 3 man rebounding, and WAR drills to coach "Hit and Get" rebounding and attacking the rim with two hands. Included in the rebounding segments is transition work into 5 on 5 full court offense and defense that reemphaizes the previous transition drills and offensive schemes and promotes game like situations.

Defense:
Izzo constructs his championship man-to-man and zone defense principles by breaking them down in individual and team defensive segments. See how Izzo builds his defense using drills for closing out, jumping to the ball, high and low post defense and more. Get insight into how he handles ball screens, the pin down screen and how he uses man and zone against double screen.

Using 4 vs. 3 and 4 on 4 shell drills, Izzo puts together his overall team defense which includes ball pressure, communication and consistent help side recovery.

Shooting:
Izzo's staff then takes the players through individual team shooting working on catching and shooting, shot fakes, pull up jump shots off of the dribble and lay-ups. The post players begin their work with individual post moves featuring power moves, up and unders and turnaround jump shots.

Offense:
Izzo ends practice with a review segment of his half court sets versus man-to-man and zone defenses. His arsenal of man offensive calls and zone offenses, which are run out of 1-2-2, 1-4 high and 1-3-1 alignments, allow great scoring opportunities for your perimeter shooters by coming off of multiple screens and post up isolations.

Imagine what it would cost for you and your staff to travel to East Lansing, MI for three days to watch these practices. Now, for only $119.99, you can watch three Michigan State practices from your own home or office and implement the drills and concepts that have sent the Spartans to the Final Four six times. Talk about a clinic on how to push players in a positive manner. Izzo is the best and covers all aspects. Great drills and good look at their zone and man offense. Their could be a better all access DVD but have not seen it yet. Closest I have seen is the Rick Pitino Four Pack from his Providence days offerrd on this site. This has something for a coach at any level.

Hello together, I have bought that collection get a wider sight of important elements, BUT, to me that are exercises every simple coach should know and work with. It doesn't need izzo to introduce simple fastbreak or simple shooting exercises. The worst thing is, that the second and third CDs are each filled with the exact videomaterial from the first cd....for about 60 minutes...so 3 CDs....but could have been just one cd. That's pretty ugly! I have expected much more of different exercises to improve my thinking and the playing behavior of my players. But you won't get that. For beginners it's for sure nice, for advanced coaches nothing new.

Championship Productions replies:
The purpose of All Access is to reveal what top programs do in their practices. It's not only about the drills they run, but also about how the coaches interact with their team and their staff, how they motivate their team, the cue words they use, the atmosphere of the practice and how practices are structured from day to day. For straight-up teaching videos from Tom Izzo, you might try videos such as BD-02643 or BD-03228. I never thought I could learn sooooooo much! I had to stop an rewind multiple times just to draw out the individual break down drills Izzo does with his players. His punctuality, moving from drill to drill, is something to strive for. I particularly love his 3 on 4 shell drill!! It is an amazing way to teach defensive communication and rotation. Also, you get to go into their War Room where they breakdown one of the practices and hearing how Izzo critiques things in the drill is amazing! This is a must have for any young coach. I learned alot!

This is a great video set by one of the very best. Izzo and his staff do a great job showing the audience and the players exactly what they want in each situation. This is an outstanding video for defensive breakdown drills. Izzo shows drills that you can use with your middle school or high school team right away. I highly recommend this video to coaches who are looking for information or drills on the numbered fast break, man to man defense, and/or rebounding.

Price is high but Izzo is a great teacher and this video is filled with a ton of drills for both offense and defense. He also has some good zone stuff that can help you. Izzo uses quick hitters/plays rather than a motion. If you have purchased all of his previous dvd's or have a few of them, then this particular one will not be of much value to you.

Awesome DVD - Coach Izzo is so fun to watch. Great drills, great coaching style, great practice organization. The best All Access DVD I've gotten yet. Wish I had had this type of tape when I first started coaching - I am a 42 year veteran of every level of coaching basketball - from middle to school to college. This tape would help and inspire every level - men or women's.

Very good video. His defense and rebounding progressions are great drills. We have already implemented them into our practices. If you like the way Michigan State plays, this video shows some good insight into the way they do things.

Great set of DVD's. I agree with the comment that Coach Izzo doesn't upset in his dvds! I would recommend that everyone buy these dvds though in place of his single dvd's because you see most of everything if not everything on these dvds. So spend a little bit more and get these and get everything plus practice with Michigan St.

This All-Access Practice is top-notch! I have not been disappointed by any Tom Izzo products through Championship Productions. It was great seeing Izzo puts his team through shell defense. I also got a lot out of his perimeter and post breakdown drills. He went into detail on the different ways MSU defends ball screens and showed drills on how his team practices defending ball screens. If you own multiple Tom Izzo DVDs like I do, there is a decent amount of repeat stuff. This is a must if you do not own a Tom Izzo DVD.

Good Video. It's cool to see how a college coach organizes practices. Lots of good offensive and defensive drills. Also gives you a look at several offensive sets.
