Hit the court with Steve Alford and his staff for an in-depth look at his Lobo basketball practices where he was a 4x regular seson champion, 2x MVC tournament champion and was voted Coach of the Year 3x. In this video set, Coach Alford gives you the basis of success that he learned while playing for legendary coaches Sam Alford and Bob Knight.

Throughout this DVD series, Alford introduces each segment of practice before going to the floor. He describes what you will see, his objectives during the practice and the results he wants to see. In addition, sit in on a Lobo film session to see how you can effectively use videotape in your program.

Warm-Up Drills:
Every practice begins with passing and ball handling drills that stress fundamentals, movements and teaching proper technique. Coach Alford believes that good passing and ball handling skills will result in a higher shooting percentage. The beginning of practice is also time he uses film to emphasize what he feels his team needs to improve on.

Transition Offense Defense and Rebounding:
See how Alford teaches transition offense by using full court build up drills. Alford emphasizes correct passing to players who can make plays and teaches balance within his teams transition defense to guard against easy baskets. Alford demonstrates how making drills competitive can produce all-out effort and competitiveness from your team in every practice. Learn Alford's innovative "Rodman Rebounding" drill. This drill puts your players in a competitive overload principle that requires them to compete to get out of the pit.

Defense:
Coach Alford teaches his half-court defense using shell drills and shows how to defend dribble drive penetration, ball screens, down screens, cross screens, back screens and flare screens. He also emphasizes and teaches "mental quickness" to get players to compete and think quickly in different situations.

Offense:
Learn Alford's disciplined motion and zone offenses and how you can save time teaching defensive techniques using his 4-on-4 shell drills.

Using individual breakdown drills, the Lobo staff teaches the movements of the posts, wings and points and their roles within their motion offense. This skill work will improve your athletes' performance and make them more complete players.

This video is the complete package to how to keep things simple and efficient in your practices on the offensive and defensive end of the floor and how to improve your players on a daily basis. Order now!

Agree with previous comments about video but I really was impressed with the practice sessions. My understanding going in was that it was unedited practice footage and that's what it is.

I wish I would've read the review before purchasing this video. The video quality is so bad it distracts from the teaching being done in the video. That should be something included in the description of the videos content. All of my other championship productions videos have been excellent, but I am definitely feeling buyers remorse with this one. There are some good drills and teaching of the game by Coach Alford but again the video quality is just so incredibly bad.

I give it a 2 because of the camera work. When it is from a distance and pans out over entire floor it is fuzzy like it is being shot through glass...there is often a counter in the bottom corner as well. When it goes to floor level it is clear and bright but you cant see as much. Very disappointed with the camera work on this one.

Championship Productions replies:
Coach, Thanks for the review. This video was shot at the Lobos practice facility. This facility did not have a place for us to perch a camera to get a good overhead shot of the floor. They use mounted, remote control cameras (more schools are going to this kind of system) to shoot their practices. So we used their overhead camera angle and one of our cameras for the floor footage. While this is not ideal, we felt it was superior to shooting everything from the floor. This overhead view provides the viewer with a good angle for seeing the action on the floor. Hope that helps!
