Disc 3: Individual Improvement
Coach takes the point guards and wings through some of the basic fundamentals that he believes are necessary to run an offense and limit turnovers. Drills focus on everything from the stance the players should be in to relaxing the body prior to making a move in order to be more explosive. Dribble moves that the team focuses on in this session include the crossover, hesitation and escape dribble. The guards work on shooting pulls ups and step backs to create space, good secondary moves that will prepare them as the help defense steps up and getting balanced and staying in the flow after using these moves to prepare them for the shot opportunity created
Coach Madec demonstrates several full and half court chair drills you can use to teach your players to attack, change speed, and explode by their defender while dribbling in the open court. Your players will learn where the attacking angles will be as they come off of a ball screen or from a stagger screen off the ball.
Post players work on low post moves with the jump hook. When attacking the middle the posts work on a crow hop, which allows the post player to take the space the defender may give you. Posts work on looking for the cutters before executing any move and they practice screening and how to come of the screen. They work at keeping defenders on the back once they open up after setting a screen. Shooting is practiced by faking a screen and then moving either to the hoop for a layup or to the outside for a shot.
