AAU Coaching Boys Basketball Series: Shooting Mechanics and Drills

If you are going to build a successful youth program, then you must be successful at teaching the most important part of the game of basketball: shooting.

To build proper form, Fran Fraschilla demonstrates and describes the shooting fundamentals and drills that young players need to develop proper shooting form. Coach Fraschilla divides his shooting fundamentals into four main components: foundation, balance, follow through, and hand technique. Each concept is broken down into segments that are easy to teach and easy for young players to practice and master.

He details how to use the Nash Shooting Drills to develop a great shooting routine that will strengthen each of his four shooting concepts.

To further build form, Fraschilla shows you how to develop proper layup form and advance your players' layup skills with his Marist Drill. This drill is great for your youth players and for advanced players who want to advance their skills.

Once your players have mastered shooting form, Coach Fraschilla demonstrates several three-man shooting drills. In Yugo shooting, your players will develop their catch and shoot skills along with proper spacing as they move from one end of the court to the other looking for their shot. In Fly at the Shooter, your players will have to learn how to focus on the rim with a defensive player flying at them.

This fundamental shooting DVD will give you the basic concepts that every basketball player needs to master at a young age. In addition, you will see some advanced shooting drills you can use to continue improving their shot as they master the basic skills.
