Ratings & Reviews 50 Press for High School Basketball on April 24, 2021 Currently 4/5 Stars.4/5 Stars 4 by ShannonPierce552 The video does a good job explaining the press. Coach uses whiteboard and over head to explain the different rotations, positions and adjustments. He then shows practice video. There is also some game footage Was this review helpful? Coach Downs does a great job of breaking down the defense and provides drills you can use with any full court press defense. 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? Yes No 50 Press for High School Basketball on September 7, 2015 Currently 4/5 Stars.4/5 Stars 4 by Anonymous Good solid dvd of 2-1-2 press. Coach uses blackboard and on court demonstration. I thought the dvd is good but I would have liked a little more live play to see the press against players trying to break it. Was this review helpful? Yes No 50 Press for High School Basketball on April 2, 2013 Currently 4/5 Stars.4/5 Stars 4 by JellyBean2144 The 50 Press by Vance Downs. I thought that this DVD was very helpful and offered tons of great information. I loved the "Box Theory" concept, the philosophy of why coach uses the 50 Press, and the player responsibilities of the 50 Press. I gave this DVD a 5-Star rating. Coach Downs explains the rotation in great detail. He goes over effective trapping tips. And what I really like, and coach did a great job of this, was going into alignments details against certain press break offenses. He covers the aligment to use against a 4-across press break, 1-3-1 press break alignment, and the 5-out press break. Coach also goes over several trapping areas of this 50 Press and the rotations. He then talks about certain terms that players can use to indicate who will have duties during a certain trapping assignment. But the Box Theory and "Gone" call adjustments that are discussed in this DVD are wonderful and helps to give this DVD a 5- Star rating. Great DVD. I look forward to using this 50 Press over the summer and when the season starts in the fall. 5 of 5 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful? Yes No 50 Press for High School Basketball on May 6, 2012 Currently 5/5 Stars.5/5 Stars 5 by Anonymous Coach Downs gives you all the information you need to run the 2-1-2 press...reasons for running the press, types of players to use/their responsibilities at each position, rotations for different offensive alignments, breakdown drills and "what ifs". My only criticism is that the periods of uninterrupted graphic presentation/ diagramming went too long without switching to on-court demonstrations...detailed on-screen notes and diagrams are frontloaded in the video with the majority of the on-court footage coming in the remaining portion. It may have been better to have edited in each drill's on-court footage after it was diagrammed. I probably would have given the video a 4.5 if it would have been available. A major strength of the video is that much of the on-court presentation (minus game footage) was done in a practice setting with Coach Downs' team, rather than in a clinic setting. 11 of 11 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful?
