In this video Coach Filter teaches the eight essentials for a successful pitcher. These are the same essentials that have allowed Filter's pitching staff to finish among the top 25 in the nation in earned run average. Under his guidance, the Aztecs set school season strikeout records multiple times. Demonstrated on the field and mound are proper warm-up exercises for your pitchers beginning with form toss. From the form toss Coach Filter will lead you through a series on tosses, which include one knee toss, standing toss, shuffle step, and balance hop drill that will teach the pitcher proper ball rotation and balance essentials for all successful pitchers. After the proper warm-up Coach Filter moves to the mound and teaches the four essentials for pitchers to consistently throw strikes and get batters out. Four phases are detailed during this segment of the video. Phase 1 is simply being consistent in addressing the mound, phase 2 is from the start of the pitch to balance point, phase 3 is balance point to hand separation, and phase 4 is throwing the ball. Each of these four phases are broken down with key teaching points in each phase.
