Russ Rose Russ Rose
Penn State University Head Coach
To say that Coach Rose had a good year in 2007 is a massive understatement. His squad captured the 2007 National Championship – the second in his tenure at Penn State. In addition, he was selected as the 2007 AVCA Division I National Coach of the Year and also was inducted into the AVCA Hall of Fame. Earlier in the season, Rose became only the third coach in Division I to pass the 900-career-win plateau and owns an NCAA-best career winning percentage of .853. Penn State is one of only two schools to make the last 27 NCAA tournaments. His teams have won 25 conference championships -- 11 Big Ten and eight Atlantic 10 -- including the last five Big Ten crowns. Additionally, Rose was named the AVCA National Coach of the Year in 1997 and 1999 and was recognized as one of the "All-Time Great Volleyball Coaches" in 2005.

Christy Johnson Christy Johnson
Iowa State University Head Coach
Coach Johnson, a two-time All-American at the University of Nebraska, led the Cyclones to their second-straight berth in the NCAA tournament in 2007, guiding the team to the Regional Semifinal. Johnson and the Cyclones ended the season ranked 17th in the AVCA Coaches Poll. In 2007, ISU finished ninth in the nation in blocks per game (3.28) and led the Big 12 in digs per game (10.08) – only the second school in Big 12 history to lead the league in that category in back-to-back seasons.

Dave Shondell Dave Shondell
Purdue University Head Coach
In his five years as Purdue’s Head Coach, Shondell has led the Boilermakers to four consecutive NCAA Tournaments – and a third place Big Ten finish in 2007. Shondell brought 22 years of experience to the Boilermaker sidelines. In 13 years at Muncie Central High School, Shondell led the Bearcats to four state titles and a 428-52 record (.891), good for the second-best winning percentage in Indiana high school volleyball history. Under his leadership, Muncie Central was the only public school to be ranked in the top 25 nationally each year since 1993. Shondell also spent 15 years as a program co-director and head coach of the Munciana Club. In that time, 12 Munciana teams won USA Volleyball national championships and Shondell’s teams finished in the top five in the nation every year since 1991.

Kirsten Bernthal Booth Kirsten Bernthal Booth
Creighton University Head Coach
Coach Booth has established herself as the top coach in Creighton history. She became the program’s all-time winningest coach, and picked up career win 200, in 2007. She has set and broken school records for victories three times, as well as setting top marks in the program for winning percentage and consecutive matches won. Her 2007 squad finished in a tie for 2nd-place. Booth tutored the program’s first All- American this season, as well as its first-ever MVC Freshman of the Year winner.

Tom Keating Tom Keating
former Dubuque Wahlert (IA) Head Coach
Keating led the Eagles to 11 state titles and more then 770 victories during his tenure there, as well as 17 conference titles and was the state runner-up three times. This seven-time Iowa Coach of the Year was a national coach of the year in 2003 and was a finalist in 2001 and 2002. He has sent more then 30 players onto Division 1 programs. In 1994, he coached the Mizuno High School All-American Team. Keating is also a member of the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Dawn Sullivan Dawn Sullivan
Iowa State University Assistant Coach
Coach Sullivan’s primary responsibilities at ISU include coaching outside hitters. In three years under Sullivan, the Cyclones have recorded three of the top-10 single-season hitting percentages in school history. Before joining the Cyclones, Sullivan was an instrumental part of a strong Illinois State program that posted winning seasons in each of her three years coaching there, and helped coach three Redbirds to allconference honors. As a player, Sullivan posted a record-setting collegiate career at Kansas State. She became one of five KSU players to record more than 1,000 kills and digs in a career. Sullivan ranks third all-time in both digs and kills in Wildcat history. Sullivan was named All- American and all-Big 12 as a senior.

Terry Gamble Terry Gamble
Iowa Western Head Coach
Coach Gamble just completed his third season as the Iowa Western Head Women’s Volleyball Coach, a season that saw Coach Gamble selected to the NJCAA Volleyball Hall of Fame. In 2007, Iowa Western placed 7th at the National Championship Tournament. This comes a year after Gamble’s 2006 team won the school’s first ever national championship, which led to him being named the 2006 AVCA National Coach of the Year and the NJCAA Division I Coach of the Year.
