About Coach Thom

Thom McDonald is currently the Director of Basketball Operations at Championship Productions and has been involved in sports his entire life. He began coaching basketball at West Lyon High School (IA) in 1988 and moved to Perry High School (IA) in 1991. In 1994, McDonald worked under Rudy Washington at Drake University. McDonald was instrumental Drake's defensive philosophy as he learned the match-up zone from legendary coach, John Chaney. After his stint at Drake, McDonald took list last coaching position at Florida State where he worked under Leonard Hamilton.
